Mother's Day Mayhem

My handsome and precious son woke me up bright and early announcing that he made homemade blueberry pancakes and wanted to join me for first service at church. I fixed my hair and makeup, got dressed, and went downstairs to find the skillet in the sink and pancakes nowhere in sight. He had in fact made breakfast, for himself. None for me.

Happy Mother's Day!

My sweet and thoughtful husband and children made a delicious homemade brunch after church that more than made up for the lack of pancakes. Mr. Cooper built me a custom window seat with built in storage, and the children made several sweet handmade cards. I was officially declared a great mother. Oh, and I also took a fabulous nap.

Happy Mother's Day!

My kids were not perfect angels today. They argued and whined and pooped their pants. And not just the baby. I called my kids jerks and made one of them cry. That's when we realized I wasn't actually the best mother ever and my devoted husband told me to take my medicine and chill the heck out.

Happy Mother's Day!

This Mother's Day is a perfect snapshot of motherhood for me, full of highs and lows, a complicated mix of joy and disappointment. Moments where I am filled with pride and eternal patience are eclipsed by tantrums and meltdowns that push me to the limit of love.

Happy Mother's Day!

To me and every other mother loving our imperfect children with the very best of our imperfect love.
